Cervical Laminoplasty

Cervical Laminoplasty is often preformed on cervical compression myelopathy patients. With cervical compression myelopathy the vertabre in the neck press together causing extreme pain. In Cervical Laminoplasty the spinal discs close to the neck are cut and grooved to relieve the pressure. Usually bone grafts are placed inside the cut areas to provide stability and prevent the discs from collapsing. Cervical Laminoplasty is an invasive surgery and full recovery can take a year or longer.
