Cervical Disc Arthroplasty

Cervical Disc Arthroplasty is a form of spinal surgery that is used for patients with degenerative disc disease. This form of treatment is used as an alternative to the more traditional spinal fusion. In arthroplasty rather than using metal or bone to fuse fallen disks together the discs are removed and replaced with artificial discs. Usually either the ProDisc or Prestige discs are used for replacement of discs in the cervical area. Many patients report greater range of movement after Cervical Disc Arthroplasty compared with traditional spinal fusion.
